About Me

Hi, I'm Ian. I'm a professional mechanical engineer with experience with medical devices, manufacturing automation, and pipeline inspection robots.

I spend a lot of time keeping up with technology and going down deep rabbit holes whenever I come across something interesting (which is quite often). Pure mechanical design can only go so far, the fun part comes when things can move on their own or on command! I learned to program so that I can bridge the gap between electronics and mechanical parts. I learn best through experience, so I'm always building something with new tools such as software simulations.

I'm also an avid homelabber with a 3-node cluster of mini PCs tucked away in a corner. They run various self-hosted services such as a storage server, media server, and way too many more to list. The mini PCs also serve as a virtual playground where I can test projects, new services, and configurations in disposable environments that I can nuke if I break something.

Other hobbies include playing the piano (every day!) and badminton.
